Cdigix Launches the Ctrax Media Player

Cdigix announces that its legal digital music service, Ctrax, has been significantly upgraded with the launch of its new Ctrax Media Player. The player gives students at partnered universities immediate access to Ctrax's extensive catalog of more than 2.3 million music tracks for free while allowing them to store, search and instantly play back downloaded music without needing to open an Internet browser.

In addition, the Ctrax Media Player's advanced media management capabilities enable students to enjoy a wide range of other activities beyond the Ctrax music service such as managing all the media on their PCs; burning and ripping CDs and DVDs; and synching with portable devices, including iPods and MP3 players.

Ctrax's collection now includes more than 100.000 artists from all of the major record companies and thousands of independent labels. Students can easily download via a 'tethered download' single tracks or even entire CDs, and can access their account from up to three different computers. Adding to the user experience are a slew of other activities, all of which are supported by the Ctrax Media Player, including:
- creating play lists;
- listening to custom-built Internet radio stations;
- viewing music videos;
- finding artists, tracks and albums with the powerful search tool; and
- reading album reviews, artist bios and more.

In addition to the free streaming and tethered downloads of all tracks, Ctrax also gives users the option of permanently owning the music as well as transferring it to portable devices, for additional fees.

To celebrate the launch of the new Ctrax Media Player, Cdigix has teamed with Barsuk Records on a special limited-time offer. All students who register for and begin using the new player until November 24 can download a free, exclusive digital compilation album with music from such artists as Death Cab for Cutie, Nada Surf, The Long Winters and more.
