Visioneer has announced the Visioneer RoadWarrior, a mobile scanner for handling all the document needs of the business traveler. The RoadWarrior software enables scanned receipts to be combined with virtually any expense report form. Business card software provides capture, recognition and exporting to leading contact managers, PDAs and smart phones. The RoadWarrior is also an ideal solution for scanning and converting documents into searchable Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF) files that are easily organized, shared and better protected. Visioneer also signed a distribution agreement to bundle Google Search Tools that allow road warriors to quickly find documents and maps for important business meetings.

The Visioneer RoadWarrior, based on Visioneer's award-winning Strobe design, measures only 2" x 1.5" x 11.4" and weighs a mere 10 ounces. The mobile scanner is powered through the USB port and incorporates Visioneer's patented AutoLaunch technology that automatically begins the scanning process when a document is inserted into the scanner. The combination of size, mobility and software allow the Visioneer RoadWarrior to be the suitable traveling companion for mobile professionals. It comes bundled with the full-versions of software to scan receipts, business cards and documents.

Visioneer has also announced that they have signed a distribution agreement with Google to bundle Google Desktop and Google Earth with Visioneer scanners. Google Desktop is a client application that allows users to easily search their computer, providing full text search over email, files, music, photos, chats, viewed web pages, and more.

Combined with Nuance OmniPage Indexer, scanned document images are OCR'd in the background and indexed to Google Desktop making both paper and "born digital" files on a PC, searchable by content. Google Earth is the only program that can deliver a 3D digital map and directions of the entire earth via the Internet, "because every road warrior needs to know where they are and where they're going." Users can point and zoom to anyplace on the planet. Satellite images and local facts zoom into view, enhanced by Google search to show local points of interest and facts.

Business professionals want the best easy-to-use products and full function solutions whether on the go or in the office. Unlike other receipt scanners, the RoadWarrior is compatible with virtually any company's expense report form whether in Excel-format, a customized application or web-applet. With Nuance PaperPort, receipts and expense reports are "stacked" as searchable PDF files, ready for digital signature and retrievable later by simply searching on keywords such as city, airline, hotel or restaurant name. Now any document encountered by the business traveler (receipts, business cards, notes, office documents, or directions) can be scanned, organized and shared.

* Scan – Users can scan receipts, business cards, articles, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes and photographs. The RoadWarrior can scan documents up to 8?" wide and 14" long.
* Organize – The RoadWarrior software bundle allows users to stack their scanned receipts and expense report to make submissions and approvals fast and paperless. In fact, when combined with digital signatures and electronic reimbursement, the receipt may be the last piece of paper touched by the business traveler.
* Share - Because documents are scanned into a searchable PDF format, users can easily send and share information that is accurate and secure. Scanned receipts are now accepted by the IRS and most corporate accounting departments.

The RoadWarrior is a fast, mobile scanner that can be connected to computer quickly via the Hi-Speed USB 2.0 interface and has a resolution of 600 x 1200 dpi with 36-bit color. With Visioneer's patented technologies, the RoadWarrior is Paper Driven and automatically scans documents when inserted into the scanner. Users can scan regardless of location because the RoadWarrior is powered through the USB port. The RoadWarrior is designed to automatically convert, at the user's option, any scanned item into a text-searchable PDF file while maintaining the visual integrity of the original document.

The RoadWarrior scanner comes with a software bundle for mobile professionals, including Google Desktop; Google Earth; award-winning Nuance PaperPort document management software that provides the fastest way to scan receipts, expense reports, documents, and photos to create electronic expense reports ideal for electronic submission, record keeping and retrieval; Nuance OmniPage precision OCR analysis software with advanced layout detection and logical form recognition, which allows users to create Text Searchable PDF files without having to retype them; and NewSoft Presto. BizCard, reads and imports business card information with accuracy and imports them to your favorite contact manager such as Outlook, ACT, Goldmine, or your favorite PDA or smart phone. The RoadWarrior includes Visioneer's award-winning OneTouch software and TWAIN and WIA drivers.

Minimum system requirements are a Pentium II 300 MHz or equivalent processor or higher and Windows 2000 or Windows XP, 256MB of RAM (512MB RAM for Windows XP), 200 MB available hard disk space, a CD-ROM drive and a USB port.
