byteplant has announced the immediate availability of Arctor version 2, the disk-to-disk backup solution providing small and medium-sized business and home users with reliable, fast-restore backup capabilities. Arctor 2 includes new features to detect problems with hard disks before they get serious and to restore only specific missing or modified files, saving time and preventing problems that can cause business down-time. A freeware version of Arctor is now available for home users.

Arctor 2 comes with new statistics, analysis and maintenance features that help optimize transfer bandwidth, track disk usage and details of selected or archived files, orphans and file size distribution. Rules can now be combined to rule groups, with individual scheduling settings and advanced scheduling options such as interval, time-of-day, on request, and retry.
