| ExaGrid Introduces ExaGrid 2.3 Disk-Based Backup System ExaGrid Systems has announced the availability of ExaGrid 2.3. ExaGrid a disk-based backup solution and is suited for mid-market and small enterprise companies looking to quickly eliminate the hassles of tape backup. ExaGrid works with existing backup applications to provide faster and more reliable backups and restores. With ExaGrid, customers can experience a 30 to 80% reduction in their backup windows. ExaGrid's unique byte-level delta data reduction and last backup compression, along with high quality of SATA drives, delivers turnkey disk-based backup at approximately 30% the price of standard drives without data reduction. ExaGrid 2.3 delivers additional data restore options for disaster recovery, optimized backup of Microsoft SQL databases, and expanded support for backup applications such as CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup, Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec NetBackup and CommVault Galaxy. ExaGrid 2.3 includes a number of significant product enhancements, including: - Selective data copied to a second site system - Allows customers to select the portion of their onsite backup data they want transferred to their second-site ExaGrid system for data restore for disaster recovery. For example, a customer may choose to place their database and email information on disk instead of tape at a second site for more rapid disaster recovery. By allowing only certain data or business applications to be copied to the second site, a much smaller system can be deployed at the second site location. - Optimized SQL share - Provides an optimized disk-based target for the direct backup of Microsoft SQL databases, offering customers tremendous flexibility in how they back up their important databases. Customers can perform a SQL dump directly to ExaGrid to be backed up, eliminating the step of dumping to primary disk. This takes the backup of the SQL database out of the nightly backup window resulting in a shorter backup window. - Enhanced support for popular backup applications - Supports CommVault Galaxy version 6.1, along with the latest versions of CA BrightStor ARCserve Backup, Symantec Backup Exec, Symantec NetBackup, and CommVault Galaxy version 5.9. ExaGrid is a turnkey plug-and-play solution that sits behind existing backup applications and enables faster and more reliable backups and restores. Customers report that backup windows are reduced by 30 to 80%.
