Advantech's New 3.5" Biscuit Single Board Computer

Advantech unveils its latest x86-based SBC. PCM-9375 is the newest 3.5" biscuit SBC with the richest set of embedded features. The latest AMD Geode LX 800@0.9W processor balances higher performance with superb power consumption and delivers high performance per watt for 32-bit embedded applications. PCM-9375 has the same mechanical design and layout as its predecessor offering a suitable upgrade path for older AMD Geode GX1processor-based systems in machine control, portable medical equipment and gaming applications.

PCM-9375's array of features includes up to 512MB DDR SODIMM memory, 4 COMs (1 x COM port supports RS-422/485), 4 x USB 2.0, 1 Enhanced IDE interface, AC97 audio, 8 bit GPIO (general purpose input/output), 1 CompactFlash type II slot, 2 Fast Ethernet and one PC/104 slot. Amazingly, PCM-9375's total power consumption is around 6W with 256MB DDR memory and 256M CompactFlash. PCM-9375 with AMD Geode LX 800@0.9W processor offers one of the most energy-efficient x86 solutions in the embedded market, and the rich set of embedded features and standard mechanical layout provides embedded integrators with an ideal solution for small form factor, fan-less designs or upgrades that protect legacy investments.

PCM-9375 was specially developed with Windows Embedded OS optimized drivers, tools and components to enhance Microsoft Windows CE 5.0 & XPe (SP2). The major benefits of CE 5.0 are USB 2.0 support, better performance and stability. CE 5.0 is a componentized, hard real-time operating system that integrates advanced multimedia, such as Direct3D Mobile, Windows Media 9 Series; and real time capabilities to rapidly build a wide range of innovative, small-footprint devices. Plus, with the Advantech OS image, you get additional useful features, like Auto Launch Application, Registry Editor, Registry Flusher and AdvLib (SMBus, WatchDog, I2C and GPIO), helping customers develop richer and more dynamic CE-based applications.

Windows XPe (SP2) is based on Windows XP Pro code, and uses all the same features, drivers and services from Windows XP Pro. Componentized and modular, Windows XPe provides a familiar Win32 programming environment, and as well as a price advantage over XP Pro, PCM-9375 also comes with extra utilities to speed application development. There is even a Fast-Boot utility to help customers protect their OS image and quickly wake up the system without having to perform a full OS boot. (Note: Fast-Boot utility is not included in the image, order PN: 2050000003 (Advantech Fast Boot Utility V1.0 for WinXPe SP2.)
