| Sony Delays Its Blue-ray Player Sony says it is pushing back the launch of its first Blu-ray stand-alone player. The home electronics company has been one of the biggest developers and marketers of the Blu-ray high definition format, but has had problems with meeting launch targets fort the technology. It is now aiming for a mid-August release for the BDP-S1 player. It has already had to delay the launch of its next generation games console the PlayStation 3 as a result of problems caused by the inclusion of a Blu-ray drive in the machine. Earlier this year, Samsung also had to delay the launch of the first Blu-ray Disc player in the US due to the need for further testing.
