| Konica Minolta Introduces Large-Format Color Laser Konica Minolta has introduced a large-format color laser for general office and design applications: the magicolor 7450. Combining robust processing capability, exceptional print quality, and versatile media handling, the magicolor 7450 is designed for today's diverse office. It's the perfect tool for general workplace use, high-volume applications, and in-house creation of marketing and promotional pieces. Featuring a 733 MHz G4 processor, 256 MB DDR SDRAM, and custom acceleration hardware for fast RIP speed, the magicolor 7450 delivers its first b&w page as fast as 8.2 seconds and its first color page in 11.4 seconds. Subsequent pages are printed at an amazing 24.5 ppm. A Gigabit Ethernet interface allows the magicolor 7450 to supply fast printing for an entire network of professionals. It also has Hi-Speed USB 2.0 and parallel interfaces for stand-alone printing. Optional performance features available for the magicolor 7450 include extra RAM (up to 1024 MB) and a 40 GB hard disk, which provides additional storage, security, and convenience functions, such as direct PDF, TIFF, and JPEG printing; electronic collation; proof-then-print, secured, and stored job. The same Emperon printer architecture found in the popular Konica Minolta magicolor 2450 and 5450 printers gives the magicolor 7450 unsurpassed compatibility with the most popular printing languages (PostScript 3 and PCL 6), operating systems (Windows, Macintosh, and Linux), and network environments. The Emperon controller also provides excellent color quality with precise color matching and halftone screening for best-in-class 9600 x 600 dpi-class resolution. Customers who use graphics and design packages will especially appreciate the exceptional print quality and sophisticated color technology of the magicolor 7450. The printer's 9600 x 600 dpi-class resolution-a 600 x 600 x 4-bit contone printing technology-generates true-to-life photographic detail and smooth color gradients. Dependable, accurate color is assured by the ICC color matching system. It also includes SWOP, Commercial Press, Eurocolor, TOYO, DIC, and SNAP press emulations and PANTONE Color Tables for complete color control. The Konica Minolta smart calibration system-enhanced Automatic Image Density Control (eAIDC)-ensures consistent color on every print, every day, throughout the life of the printer. And the magicolor 7450 uses Konica Minolta Simitri Polymerized Toner, which improves print quality even on coarse media. This specially formulated toner yields more vibrant, durable prints with crisp text and images that don't smear or fade-perfect for pre-press proofing where color accuracy is key. The magicolor 7450 handles a broad selection of media types and weights-up to 141 lb. index-giving customers enormous flexibility for brochure printing, promotional publishing, and commercial-quality documents. It can print on custom-size media as small as 3.54" x 5.5", to 12.25" x 18" for full-bleed tabloid designs, and banner sizes up to 12.25" x 47.24". The standard 350-sheet paper capacity can be increased to a maximum of 1, 850 sheets with up to three optional 500-sheet cassettes. An optional automatic duplexer delivers easy, two-sided printing on pages up to 12.25" x 18" in size. Digital camera enthusiasts will enjoy the built-in support for direct photo printing from PictBridge-compatible cameras. The magicolor 7450 includes comprehensive and convenient printer management tools that make it easy for individuals and IT professionals to set up, monitor, and control print features. Individuals can get real-time supply status, as well as manage and troubleshoot the printer from virtually anywhere, using a web browser and PageScope Web Connection, a built-in web page. Network administrators can count on PageScope Net Care web-based tools for remote installation, management, and configuration of both Konica Minolta and non-Konica Minolta printers installed on the office network. The magicolor 7450 also has Enterprise Management System (EMS) Plug-ins for seamless printing from HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli NetView, CA Unicenter, and Microsoft Management Console. discuss the article write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Computing News :: home page |
