| The MathWorks MATLAB 7.2 Supports Windows XP Professional 'x64'  The MathWorks announces that MATLAB 7.2, the new version of its flagship product MATLAB, includes support for Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. MATLAB 7.2 offers users the ability to access and manipulate larger data sets and run larger, more data intensive applications by taking advantage of the large address space available with Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. Additionally, new features for analyzing and visualizing time series data are included in MATLAB 7.2.Technological advances in many engineering and scientific applications, such as image processing and radar analysis, have drastically increased data complexity and volume. MATLAB 7.2 allows users to leverage the benefits of 64-bit computing with applications involving larger data sets and computationally intensive tasks. For example, applications such as flight test data analysis, bioinformatics analysis of genetic data, and geophysical image processing, which often involve data sets greater than the 2 GB of available memory of 32-bit systems, can benefit from the increased memory available in 64-bit MATLAB. MATLAB 7.2 also provides users with access to improved capabilities for analyzing and visualizing time series data, including an interactive graphical interface.
