Appligent Releases Redax 4.0

Appligent, Inc. announces the release of Redax 4.0 the latest version of the company's solution for redacting (removing) sensitive text and images from PDF documents. Redax 4.0 includes many new and improved features including easy full-page and multi-page redaction, vector image redaction and automated text mark-up and redact features.

Redax 4.0 is designed to meet the needs of professionals complying with the Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts. Other potential users include attorneys protecting confidential information, federal, state and local governments, courts and anyone who must remove sensitive content from documents prior to their distribution. Redax 4.0 is a plug-in for Adobe Acrobat that permanently deletes marked-up content from the PDF data stream. Deleting content is the approach recommended by security experts over methods that merely hide information behind black bars that can be compromised by hackers.

Redax's new enhanced searching features include pattern matching to quickly locate common numeric patterns like Social Security numbers, ZIP codes and telephone numbers. In addition the process of creating lists for automated mark-up and redaction has been integrated into the application. Full-page redaction has been streamlined and multi-page redaction added to accommodate more complex workflows. Redax 4.0 also now redacts vector graphics in addition to bitmapped images and text from PDF documents.

Redax 4.0 requires Adobe Acrobat Standard and Professional versions 6 or 7 on Microsoft Windows NT and above. The Macintosh OS X version requires Acrobat 7.
