InduSoft Web Studio v6.1 SP1 HMI/SCADA Software

InduSoft Web Studio v6.1 SP1 offers an advantage that few other HMI/SCADA software systems can claim: It runs on various configurations of Windows platform, from powerful redundant workstations using the latest Intel processors and Windows server software, to simple handheld PDAs and "smart phones" that use Windows CE/Windows Mobile technology. It also runs on diskless embedded processors and Panel PCs, and supports web-based applications.

The same InduSoft Web Studio HMI display can run on a desktop PC, a panel PC, and a handheld device. InduSoft Web Studio software is running in the diskless PDA, supporting Visual Basic scripts and database access programs.

For OEMs, machine builders, systems integrators and end users, InduSoft Web Studio simplifies the HMI/SCADA development process. By using a single development tool, engineers can generate operator displays, Visual Basic scripts, trends, alarm, logs, and other functions that can run on desktop computers, panel-mounted displays and handheld devices, and be accessed from web-based PCs and handhelds. No other tools are required to make applications run in all these environments.

InduSoft's laboratory certification tests prove that the software runs on a wide variety of industrial computers from a host of vendors, including Advantech, Arista, Bosch-Rexroth, Maple, Woodhead and many others. In fact, InduSoft Web Studio HMI/SCADA software is offered by many industrial control vendors under license from InduSoft, often under private labels. See the accompanying release for a complete list of Windows CE certified hardware vendors.

InduSoft Web Studio 6.1 SP1 provides Visual Basic (VB) scripting that can be ported to Windows CE devices such as PDAs or viewed on Web browsers. To our knowledge, no other HMI/SCADA software allows Visual Basic scripts to be executed in a handheld device or a diskless panel PC.

Other enhancements in V6.1 SP1 include a powerful trend object tool, sophisticated screen translations, an advanced development environment, remote management tool, super symbols interface, and database management functions. An optional wizard imports legacy PanelMate applications, in addition to the wizard to import legacy PanelView applications available in previous versions.

The Trend Object has no limits on the number of pens, and each pen can be configured individually, even during the runtime. Each pen can have a different data source including text files and SQL relational databases; the pen doesn't need to be a tag; and users can choose between Step and Smooth displays. Historical and real time data can be displayed simultaneously.

With enterprise connectivity becoming important, SCADA applications need more and better database tools. InduSoft Web Studio has two. First, the database interface for Windows CE, for which patent is pending, provides a way to integrate plant floor data with a corporate database. A typical example involves storing short-term data on a Windows CE device using Microsoft SQL Server Mobile edition, then synchronizing periodically with a corporate database like Microsoft SQL Server. Second, a powerful database querying tool allows direct interfacing to SQL from within InduSoft Web Studio.

The PanelMate Import Tool converts legacy Cutler-Hammer PanelMate applications into InduSoft Web Studio applications running on all supported Microsoft operating systems. The import tool also works with private-labeled Eaton and Schneider PanelMate HMIs. The conversion allows users to migrate legacy PanelMate applications into an open standards environment.

InduSoft Web Studio supports virtually all industrial tools, standards and protocols, including .Net, OPC, ADO, XML, SOAP, ActiveX, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, thin clients, graphic formats, SQL and Excel. More than 200 communication drivers are available for communication with PLCs, DCSes and similar devices.
