Inveneo and Wyse Announce Agreement

Inveneo, a non-profit social enterprise, has signed a partnership agreement for the integration of Wyse thin clients in the Inveneo Communications System.

Inveneo has announced the availability of the Inveneo Communications System, an integrated set of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) products and software developed specifically to meet the needs of non-government organisations (NGOs), local governments and other organisations who provide vital development services to rural communities. These organisations, which focus on education, telehealth, economic development, humanitarian aid and/or emergency relief, need ICT solutions that meet their needs and the needs of the communities they serve. These solutions must be designed to operate in challenging physical environments, even in the presence of heat, dust and humidity. They must be able to run on solar or alternative power systems for locations where electricity is scarce or non-existent.

Inveneo's solution meets these needs and the Wyse thin client plays a key role by delivering the reliability and affordability of thin computing to these environments. The groundbreaking Inveneo Communications System is a low-maintenance, solar-powered PC and communications system that integrates reliable hardware and secure, easy-to-use, open-source software to enable computing, telephony and access to the Internet for remote locations like rural villages, clinics and schools.

Inveneo's pilot deployment, in partnership with the ActionAid ICT Reflect Circle Program in western Uganda, has been in operation for the last nine months. Inveneo's system plays a vital role in community empowerment. The villagers use the system to make calls to find out where to sell crops at the best prices, coordinate selling trips, contact government websites to find out about health services and to learn more about scholarships for their children.

The Inveneo and Wyse solution, as deployed in Uganda with the ActionAid ICT Reflect Circle, also will be made available for broader applications, integrated into Learning Lab solutions for mutual partner AMD.
