| Visual Network Design Releases Rackwise for Microsoft Visio SE V2.3 Visual Network Design, Inc. has announced the release of Rackwise for Visio SE, version 2.3. Visio SE is built as an application plug-in to Microsoft Visio and provides an unprecedented productivity boost to building and maintaining accurate datacenter modeling information and documentation. The ability to accurately visualize and model the datacenter has never been more important and Rackwise SE allows IT professionals to easily build heat and power models to manage their capacity for cooling, space and power. New Features in Rackwise SE include: -- Rackwise Data Table Entry - Rackwise SE now supports the automation of the creation of Visio diagrams through the import of Microsoft Excel data tables. The Excel Template will allow the offline editing and selection of over 18, 000 different devices. With the Rackwise Smart Toolbar, spreadsheets can be created using a pull-down selection within Excel and directly imported into Microsoft Visio 2003, creating live visual rack diagrams and reports. Now, editing for Rackwise SE can be done exclusively using data fields, vs. visual drag and drop, significantly reducing the time required to build and edit documentation of large datacenter environments. Reports for power, heat, physical space, devices and change information are generated automatically, once imported into Rackwise SE. -- Local Archive - Rackwise SE now allows the local saving and importation of Rackwise (.RAK) files. All files and documentation can be saved on the user's local machine with no customer-specific information or history saved on the Rackwise server. -- Intelligent Shape Library - Rackwise SE now supports over 18, 000 different devices from over 120 IT vendors. Each shape contains data properties which allow detailed, accurate visualization in Microsoft Visio and physical specifications which include heat, power and size and weight. These physical aspects provide the foundation for accurate measurement, change management, configuration and modeling of datacenter cooling, power and facilities requirements. -- International Version - Rackwise SE can now accept metric properties for weights and measurements as well as US imperial. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Computing News :: home page |
