| Ingenient Introduces DSP-Based H.264 HD Encoder Ingenient Technologies, Inc., introduced a broadcast quality HD solution. Ingenient's widely acclaimed multi-DSP software architecture for SD solutions using Texas Instruments Incorporated's TMS320C6415 digital signal processor (DSP) now supports HD using TI's new TMS320C6455 DSP and TMS320C6455 evaluation module (EVM). Ingenient's proven embedded multimedia in combination with TI's high-performance DSP provide OEMs and system integrators with a cost-effective solution that meets broadcast customer expectations for high quality video, images and audio playback. Ingenient already offers a wide spectrum of multimedia products which extend over several markets including consumer electronics, security and surveillance, video server and telecom and video infrastructure. Ingenient's solutions are comprised of hardware reference designs; embedded operating systems; video, audio and image codecs; networking and telecommunications protocols, and supporting software. TI's C6455 DSP enables developers to design high-quality, differentiated products in telecommunications, network and video infrastructure end-equipments and high-end imaging systems. The device is the first DSP to integrate a Serial RapidIO bus to provide chip level connection and processor-to-processor communication up to 10 Gbits/sec full duplex. The C6455 DSP further supports high bandwidth peripheral integration with Gigabit Ethernet MAC interface, DDR2 external memory I/F, and 2MB of L2 memory. Based on the newly enhanced performance of the TMS320C64+ core at 1GHz, the C6455 DSP is fully software compatible with previous TMS320C64x devices: performance improvement of 20% and more compact code size by up to 30%. These capabilities satisfy the needs for high-performance, flexible and scalable silicon and tools that facilitate reduced development costs and time-to-market. In addition to Ingenient's support of TI's high-performance C6455 DSP, Ingenient supports TI's new DaVinci technology and other products in TI's suite of digital media processors which brings streaming media to the networked home. The complete synchronization of Ingenient's technologies (third party partner) and TI's DSPs significantly reduces production cost and time-to-market. Ingenient has been offering customers a complete solution package of software in cooperation with TI and hardware package to its digital video camera OEMs and system integrators. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Computing News :: home page |
