| Raymarine to Enhance RayTech Navigation Software Miami International Boat Show - Raymarine, Inc. has announced enhancements to its RayTech RNS 6.0 Navigation Software. With this upgrade, RayTech RNS 6.0 can now integrate with Raymarine's E-Series displays using Raymarine's SeaTalkhs networking protocol, enabling a simple, single Ethernet connection between the PC and Raymarine's SeaTalkhs Network switch. This integration also allows the captain to access and share radar, digital fishfinder, chart and navigation data between the PC and Raymarine's E-Series displays. RayTech RNS 6.0 also offers continued support for SeaTalk, hsb2 and NMEA0183 interfaces, allowing connectivity to the widest range of embedded hardware for any PC navigation software available. In addition, RayTech RNS 6.0 now fully supports Navionics Gold, Hot Maps and the new multi-dimensional Platinum charts on CompactFlash cards. This software upgrade also includes improved waypoint and route sharing tools, allowing boating enthusiasts to easily plan shore-side and then transfer data onboard for full integration with Raymarine chartplotters and displays. RayTech RNS 6.0 also comes equipped with a new HD Digital fishfinding playback feature, allowing fishermen to "rewind" the fishfinder display, and provides USB video camera support. For Raymarine hardware owners, planning on a home PC has never been easier. RayTech Planner allows consumers to use the PC to plan at home and then bring only a Compact Flash card to the boat with planned waypoints and routes. RayTech Planner software is available as a free download from Raymarine's website. While no additional cost is required if you already have raster cartography, an additional chart reader purchase is necessary to view Navionics cartography. Additional features of RayTech RNS 6.0 include: * Customizable User Interface: Organize navigation data into easy-to-use "pages" * Animated Weather Forecasts: Download weather forecasts from Raymarine.com for intelligent navigation * Satellite Fishing Maps: Overlay sea surface temperature and plankton concentration data on the electronic chart * Navigation and Tactical Sailing Tools: Monitor wind, laylines, other boats and weather to make smart decisions on the race course * DataTrak Time-Based Graphs: Monitor instrument data trends to compare instruments and vessel performance * Polar Data Collection and Analysis: Identify optimum speed and heading for various sailing conditions * Route Optimization: Identify ideal route based on ocean current, wind speed and direction, along with a particular sailboat's polar characteristics. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Computing News :: home page |
