| Low Profile SATA II 3Gb/s MegaRAID Adapter LSI Logic Corporation has announced availability of its low-profile, SATA II 3Gb/s MegaRAID adapter to the channel. The newest addition to the MegaRAID family, this low-profile adapter is ideal for cost-sensitive and space-limited storage environments. The MegaRAID SATA 300-8XLP adapter, with a 133 MHz PCI-X host interface, features eight SATA II ports and 128 MB of onboard DDR I cache. The adapter is fully backward compatible with all SATA II 1.5Gb/s drives and supports the full Serial ATA Revision 2.5 Specification. Key features available with the adapter include: Native Command Queuing (NCQ), enclosure management (SAF-TE), individual drive activity and fault LED headers that allow users to view the status of hard drives through LEDs on the chassis, staggered spin-up, hot plug and port multiplier. The management software suite included with the adapter includes powerful management tools that allow users to efficiently configure, monitor and manage RAID systems locally or over a network. A remote battery option, sold separately, can protect the integrity of the cached data, providing backup power for up to 72 hours in the event of a complete power failure. Featuring an Intel XScale processor, the MegaRAID adapter offers a wide range of OS support, including Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2000/XP, Red Hat AS Linux, Novell Netware, SuSE Professional Linux and Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and FreeBSD. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Computing News :: home page |
