GARY LUCAS PLAYS TWO FESTIVAL SHOWS IN THE NETHERLANDS--SOLO AND WITH DUTCH BASSIST PETER WILLEMS / MORE NEWS

GARY LUCAS is back in NYC after a 3 week long residency in the Netherlands, where he appeared live twice at the SO WHAT"S NEXT FESTIVAL in Eindhoven over Halloween weekend.

Due to the pandemic restrictions the shows were performed live in a theater and live-streamed on the festival website.

Lucas and acoustic bass virtuoso and singer Peter Willems also debuted their new duo project live-streamed from the festival, and later convened in Maastricht to record their debut album which is currently being mixed.

Gary Lucas was so honoured to be able to travel to the Netherlands—the first country in Europe that took to his music in a big way, going back to the late 80's.

Because of the pandemic and the travel ban on US citizens abroad, Lucas was nearly turned away at JFK trying to board his flight - but at the 11th hour authorization come through from Dutch Immigration authorities allowing Gary to board his plane and enter the country on arrival in Amsterdam.

On Jan. 29th 2021, Gary Lucas' 40-year retrospective double album "THE ESSENTIAL GARY LUCAS" will be released on Rare Lumiere / Knitting Factory Records.
