FAMILY STATEMENT ON THE PASSING OF NEA Jazz Master, Vocalist and Actress Annie Ross

The survivors of the revered vocal legend, NEA Jazz Master, and actress Annie Ross wish to set the record straight on misinformation provided to the press and on social media at the time of her death on July 21, 2020, just four days shy of her 90th birthday.

Using information provided by someone not authorized to speak for the family, numerous published articles, news reports and obituaries falsely stated that Ms. Ross is survived by her son, Kenny Clarke Jr. That is not the case: Mr. Clarke predeceased his mother in 2018.

In information not previously shared with the press, Annie Ross' survivors include:

Her partner of more than 30 years, David Usher
Her sister, Heather Logan
Her nephew, Domenick Allen (Note: This is the correct spelling)
Her goddaughter, Charlotte Allan (Note: This is the correct spelling)

Ms. Ross' loved ones respectfully request that corrections be issued to the previously published obituaries and news reports that contained erroneous and incomplete information.

The family asks that their privacy be respected during this sad time.

For additional information, please contact Annie's long-time personal manager, Mary Scott (details below).

A memorial service for the beloved singer will take place in 2021. "So many musicians want to play for Annie, to honor Annie, and she would love that, " notes Ms. Scott. "We've heard from people from around the world who want to gather to rejoice, celebrate her life, and honor her impact on their lives and music. We'll announce further information once we're confident that we can gather safely."
