AN INTERNATIONAL ‘PREMIO ANDREA PARODI’ IN OCTOBER IN CAGLIARI

The 12th edition of Premio Andrea Parodi reaches his full international dimension, as we can see from the 10 final contendants who will perform in Cagliari (Sardinia) from 10th to 12th October in the only World Music contest in Italy.
Here they are:
A.T.A. - Acoustic Tarab Alchemy (Tunisia and Lazio) with the song "Fattouma", in Arabic;
Saly Diarra (Senegal) with the song "Musow" in Bambara idiom:
Arsene Duevi (Togo) with the song "Agamà", in Ewè idiom
Fanfara Station (Tunisia, Italy and USA) with the song "Rahil", Tunisian idiom;
Krzikopa (Poland) with the song "Hasiorki", in Silesian idiom;
Maribop (Spain) with the song "Un munnu dintra un munnu" in Sicilian idiom;
Federico Marras Perantoni (Sardinia) with the song "Canzona di mari n.2 - Fóggu e fiàra", in Sardinian idiom;
Elliott Morris (UK) with the song "The End of The World Blues", in English idiom;
Setak (Abruzzo) con "Marije", in Abruzzo idiom;
Suonno D'Ajere (Campania), with the song "Suspiro", in Neapolitan idiom.
For the first time the event will be held in the prestigious Auditorium of "Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina" Conservatory of Cagliari. There will also be an artistic and educational collaboration with the students of the Conservatory.
Elena Ledda, the artistic director od Premio Andrea Parodi will invite important special guest that will be be announced later, thus continuing to pay homage to the remarkable artist Andrea Parodi, who moved from pop art with Tazenda to a soloist career of unique value; thanks to the reworking of his roots he became an international reference of World Music, collaborating with artists such as Al Di Meola and Noa.
Ottavio Nieddu will present all the three evenings, with the collaboration and interventions of Gianmaurizio Foderaro. The finalists will perform in front of a Technical Jury (professionals, authors, musicians, poets, writers and songwriters) and a Critical Jury (journalists). Both juries, as in previous years, will be authoritative representatives of the sector and will assign two different awards.

The absolute Prize in the previous editions was assigned to: La Maschera (Campania) 2018, Daniela Pes (Sardinia) 2017, Pupi di Surfaro (Sicily) 2016, Giuliano Gabriele Ensemble (Lazio) 2015, Flo (Campania) 2014, Unavantaluna (Sicily) 2013, Elsa Martin (Friuli) 2012, Elva Lutza (Sardinia) 2011, Compagnia Triskele (Sicily) 2010, Francesco Sossio (Puglia) 2009.
Partners of the event are: '"European jazz expo" (Cagliari), Folkest (Friuli), Negro Festival (Pertosa – SA), Premio Bianca d'Aponte (Aversa - CE), Mare e Miniere (Sardinia), Premio Città di Loano for traditional Italian music, University of Cagliari, Department of History, Cultural Heritage and Territory), Barumini Foundation – Culture System.
