Dave Bass NO BOUNDARIES Hits #15 Jazz Week Charts! All-Star Band

Dave Bass
No Boundaries
Whaling City Sound

"Dave is a sophisticated composer and pianist. His music is street music taken up to Fifth Avenue. It's high art but it still has a street value. You can still feel the blood and the body." -Phil Woods (NEA Jazz Master and four-time Grammy winner)

Hits #15 on JazzWeek

Everyone's got a story to tell, but chances are that few have one like Dave Bass. Just out of high school in Cincinnati, Bass played in bands opening for Captain Beefheart and Alice Cooper. He went onto study piano with the legendary teacher Madame Chaloff (who taught Leonard Bernstein, Steve Kuhn, Kenny Werner and others) and then to touring the world as Brenda Lee's pianist. In San Francisco, he led his own latin-jazz bands and played with the young Bobby McFerrin. A serious wrist injury ended Bass' musical career, sending him to law school. He resigned as a Deputy Attorney General for the State of California (Kamala Harris was his last boss) after a 20+ year legal career and is now back at the piano - promising to keep the torch burning for classic songs, elegant bebop, Afro-Cuban rhythms, and beautiful performances.

"A Dave Bass solo takes the listener on a journey, one made more fascinating by the terrain of his original compositions."
(Bob Blumenthal - two-time Grammy winner)

NO BOUNDARIES features two-time Grammy winner Ted Nash (flute, alto flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano sax, alto sax, tenor sax), five-time Grammy nominee Karrin Allyson (vocals), and two-time Grammy winner Carlos Henriquez (bass) and sparkling Jerome Jennings (drums). Three great Cuban musicians join Dave on selected tracks: Mauricio Herrera, Miguel Valdes, and two-time Latin Grammy winner, Carlos Caro adding bata, conga, guiro, bongo and timbales.

"Dave Bass is a visionary. His original compositions are rich and evocative. He loves swing and groove equally and brings passion to everything he plays."
-Ted Nash (two-time Grammy winner and Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra stalwart)
