REVIEWS:
In my opinion the woman's voice has always been the center piece of good jazz. There are not enough great jazz singers in the early 21st century and if one wants to know how it's done they need to rush out (with all good jazz lovers) and get the great new album from Lynette Washington that floats across the air waves under the name '' Live! At NewRoc Summer Sounds." (GuavaJamm Entertainment, Inc.).

For a while now, one of the best singers on today's Jazz Scene, Lynette Washington has been a regular on the playlist here at Pure Jazz Radio. We're happy to add cuts from the new album "Live, at New Roc Summer Sounds". Up to now, I've only heard studio recordings from Lynette. Nice to hear that her vocal chops translate well to a live audience, thanks greatly to the able backing of Dennis Bell Jazz NY. Congratulation on the new album!

Lynette Washington's vocal interpretation and strength captured my attention, several years ago, as I was searching for something great to fit into my Jazz Vocal section of my radio show on Denver's Jazz 89 KUVO. I contacted the record label and received her album "Live at the X" (Celebrating the Music of Miles Davis, Carmen McRae, Sarah Vaughan & Shirley Horn), again becoming captivated by the arrangements and interpretations of beloved Jazz standards. This new release "LIVE! At New Roc Summer Sounds"carries her even further forward in live performance enjoyment. I hope the listener enjoys this recording as much as I do.

Lynette Washington's latest release "Live @ NewRoc Summer Sounds"(GuavaJamm Entertainment, Inc.) comes to us at the right time, as summer arrives and live jazz starts to kick off in all our local venues. This new album is a wonderful journey into live jazz vocals with very strong quartet backing from Dennis Bell-Piano, Gerry Malkin-Tenor Sax, Paul Beaudry-Bass and Lucianna Padmore on Drums. Lynette's vocals bring rich, soulful jazz and funk to classic tunes likeSummertime, Stolen Moments, the Irving Berlin classic "How Deep Is the Ocean"leading into a great samba beat for the R&B tune "On the Ocean". So, if you love live music and want to take a trip in your mind, close your eyes and enjoy this fantastic new release from Lynette Washington.

A consummate singer in every sense of the word, Ms. Washington is also highly regarded by musicians as a "singer's singer." "Lynette is one of the most unique and original singers that I've worked with and I've worked with many. She has an amazing voice and sounds like no one else. She is among the greats."
Alex Blake, World Renowned Bassist

"I've made music with some of the world's greatest singers, from Phillis Hyman to Chaka Kahn, even Anita O Day. I would put Lynette Washington in that category of world's greatest."
Victor Jones, Grammy Award winning, World Renowned Drummer, Bandleader

"Lynette has an undeniable gift. Her voice reaches the depths of your soul."
Casey Benjamin-Multi Grammy Award-winning Saxophonist (Robert Glasper Experiment)

"Lynette is, absolutely, one of my favorite vocalists! She's so gifted she can make something out of nothing!
I once asked her to sing a song I wrote in a recording studio. The song had no words and no lead melody. Lynette completed the song, making it sound like SHE wrote it!"
Tommy Campbell, World Renowned Drummer (Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Rollins etc.)
