Gwyneth Glyn/bendigedig/Nominated for BBC Radio 2 Folk Award 'Best Original Track 2018'

It was announced last night that Cricieth based singer-songwriter Gwyneth Glyn has been nominated for Best Original Track in the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. The nomination is for the track Cân y cŵn from Gwyneth's album Tro, which released in September 2017 on the new bendigedig label, a partnership between Theatr Mwldan and ARC Music Productions International Ltd.

"I'm thrilled to be nominated for a Radio 2 Folk Award, and in the good company of such a wonderful aray of artists. I'm also delighted that Dylan Fowler, who produced and plays on the album Tro has also been nominated for Best Traditional Track with his band Alaw. It's a joy to be working with such passionate and dedicated musicians", says Gwyneth of her nomination.

The awards ceremony is due to take place in Belfast on 4th April when the winners will be announced. Other nominees in the category include - The Young'uns (Be The Man), The Granite Gaze – Lankum (The Granite Graze) and Declan O'Rourke (The Great Saint Lawrence River). This is the second nomination for Gwyneth Glyn whose collaboration Ghazalaw, with Indian ghazal singer Tauseef Akhtar, was nominated for a Folk Award in 2016 (Best Traditional Track for Moliannwn from their eponymous album Ghazalaw). The track features Gwyneth Glyn on voice and guitar, Rowan Rheingans on backing vocals, Dylan Fowler on guitar and kantele, Jordan Price-Williams on acoustic bass, Mark O'Connor on drums, Patrick Rimes on violin and Gillian Stevens on viol.

Gwyneth Glyn will be supporting Catrin Finch and Seckou Keita on selected dates of their UK tour, details of which can be found on Gwyneth's website gwynethglyn.com.

Her band members will include Rowan Rheingans, Dylan Fowler and Gillian Stevens. The album Tro is available to purchase in digital and physical formats from bendigedig.org
