Trumpeter Rachel Therrien Announces 4th Album "Why Don't You Try" out in US 10/27 (Canadian release TODAY)

Trumpeter, composer and bandleader Rachel Therrien is proud to announce the Canadian release of her fourth album Why Don't You Try, out today, August 29th, 2017 on Multiple Chord Music. To celebrate the release, Therrien will be performing at Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill tonight in Montreal along with her quintet to present their electric and energetic compositions. The album will be released in the United States with Truth Revolution Records on October 27th 2017.

Spearheaded by trumpeter Rachel Therrien, Why Don't You Try presents a collaborative mosaic of original music by each member of the quintet. Recorded at Montreal's Studio 270 with technician Robert Langlois and mixed at Studio ToneBender by Olivier St-Pierre, the project presents tasty jazz-rock with creative arrangements and beautiful cohesion between the musicians. Co-produced by Rachel Therrien and Kim Neundorf for Free Run Artists Productions, Why Don't You Try features the sound of Simon Pagé's groovy electric bass, Charles Trudel's virtuoso piano, Alain Bourgeois'senergetic drums, Benjamin Deschamps's inventive saxophone and Rachel Therrien's inspired trumpet. Why Don't You Try is woven of bold musical proposals, great moments of improvisation and a sympathetic humoristic touch.

Once again, the Rachel Therrien Quintet focuses on the crossbreeding of genres and the spirited energy that is uniquely her own.

The Quintet

Winner of the TD Grand Prize Jazz Award of the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2015 and of the Stingray Jazz Rising Star Award in 2016, this young, creative and very talented quintet founded by trumpeter and composer Rachel Therrien in 2009, figures in the most creative jazz ensemble of her generation. Strong of three albums (On Track, 2011; Home Inspiration, 2014; Why Don't You Try, 2017) and of a enviable complicity, the Rachel Therrien Quintet played all over Canada in the most prestigious jazz clubs and festivals.

Newly Brooklyn-based, Rimouski native trumpeter, composer and bandleader Rachel Therrien already boasts a enviable CV. Known for her very personal signature with her influences from traditional jazz to caribbean, african, afro-cuban, afro-colombian. and rock, Rachel has developed a reputation as a highly-skilled, versatile and creative artist. Having produced 4 records (On Track, 2011; Home Inspiration, 2014, Pensamiento : Proyecto Colombia, 2016; Why Don't You Try, 2017), the talented trumpeter also shared stages with many great musicians, Tony Allen, the DIVA Jazz Orchestra, Roberto Fonseca, Michel Legrand, Claudio Roditi, Pedrito Martinez, Vic Vogel, to name only a few.
