The Jazz Standard, located at 116 E 27th St, New York, NY is proud to welcome husband and wife duo, The Baylor Project and genre-defying harpist, Brandee Younger on two separate, highly-anticipated nights of jazz performances. On Sunday, August 20th, Jean and Marcus Baylor will showcase music from their recently released debut album "The Journey". On Tuesday, August 22nd, accomplished jazz harpist Brandee Younger will bring her esteemed quartet to the Manhattan jazz club. On each of these nights, both of these acts will perform two sets of truly innovative and energetic music at 7:30pm and 9:30pm. Tickets are available here.

The Jazz Standard is thrilled to present The Baylor Project, which will feature the star-studded line-up of Keith Loftis on tenor saxophone, Terry Brewer on piano and Ben Williams on bass. The pair, with the help of their ensemble, will present a dynamic and exuberant night of jazz, while incorporating elements of gospel and R&B. On February 10th, Be A Light released The Baylor Prohect's debut album "The Journey", and later that same week, was proud to announce that it had debuted at number 8 on the Billboard Jazz Chart. "The Journey" has not only been topping the charts, but has also received worldwide acclaim from outlets such as All About Jazz, Hot House, Soul Tracks, Soulbounce and more. "The Journey, " showcases the Baylor's outstanding versatility with a dynamic collection of original compositions, newly arranged standards and reimagined hymns. Upon pressing play, listeners are transported into the heart of the black experience: inside a little church in the mountains of West Virginia built by Jean's ancestors, hands are clapping, feet are stomping on time tested hardwood floors, and voices testify to the power of prayer in song.

On Tuesday, August 22nd, jazz harpist Brandee Younger, with the help of Chelsea Baratz on saxophone, Dezron Douglas on bass and EJ Strickland on drums, will perform selections from her latest album "Wax & Wane" as well as pieces that pull from the repertoire of Alice Coltrane. Younger is highly respected within the contemporary jazz scene. "Wax & Wane" was placed on several best-of-2016 lists and garnered attention from NPR, the Canadian Broadcasting Company, The New York Times and others. Younger delivers a consistently fresh take on the ancient instrument as an educator, event curator, performer and leader of the Brandee Younger Jazz Harp Quartet. Known for expressive interpretations of traditional harp repertoire as well as her continued work with a diverse cross-section of musical talents, Younger is widely recognized as a creative linchpin whose nuanced presence and willingness to push boundaries make her irreplaceable on record and in performance.
