GОNG EXPRESSO: DECADENCE - New Album Pre-Order

Pierre Moerlen's Gong was a major branch of the massive Gong tree. In the mid '70's drummer Pierre Moerlen separated from Daevid Allen marking an end to the Flying Teapot period and a powerful jazz-rock unit was formed and signed to Virgin Records. Pierre's brother Benoit Moerlen, Hansford Rowe, Francois Causse, Allan Holdsworth were core members. Many major guests joined them both on albums and touring. Mick Taylor, Mike Oldfield, and French violinist Didier Lockwood were key participants. Mike Oldfield occasionally used the PMG rhythm section for touring also calling on members for albums such as Ommadawn, Incantations, Exposed and Platinum. Pierre Moerlen died May 5th, 2005.
In concert Gong Expresso mines their huge repertoire and has exceptional guests joining them regularly.

Hansford Rowe's project HRIII merges with Gong Expresso. Gong alumni Francois Causse, Benoit Moerlen and Hansford Rowe join HRIII guitarist Julien Sandiford for the recording of the new album by Gong Expresso titled Decadence.

FINAL Days to PRE-ORER the NEW ALBUM!!

OUR GONG EXPRESSO PLEDGEMUSIC CAMPAIGN ENDS MAY 10TH!
www.pledgemusic.com/projects/hr3

We, Gong Expresso, would like to offer our sincerest condolences to the family of Allan Holdsworth. As many of you know, Allan played major part in the Gong family tree. Through numerous recordings and live shows, Allan's genius was always a gift for us. His contributions to the world of music are immense. There are artists we refer to as "before and after" artists. Allan was surely one. As with Hendrix there is guitar playing before Allan and after Allan. Enough said. We are happy to announce the digital release of Decadence on or close to May 15th. We are in the final stages of mixing. Since the beginning of the campaign in November 2016 we have had this special bonus for pledging. You will receive a never before heard 1979 live version of PM Gong's classic 3 Blind Mice featuring Allan Holdsworth available for immediate download! This will not be made available to the general public.

DECADENCE album by GONG EXPRESSO

Gong alumni Francois Causse (drums, percussion), Benoit Moerlen (vibes, marimba) and Hansford Rowe (bass) join HRIII guitarist Julien Sandiford for the recording of Gong Expresso's first album.

Rowe says: "Decadence is the title tune on the new Gong Expresso album. Here the word means 'falling away.' I hope this tune and all the music on the album somehow addresses this in an unadorned, direct way. "When I play with these three musicians, I am convinced there is something special happening. Benoit, Francois and I began playing together in early 1977 in Pierre Moerlen's Gong and our rapport is of the kind only long-term relationships can provide. Julien is 25 has been alive less time than I have been playing with the others. Yet our musical relationship feels infinitely long."

Gong Expresso have a pre-order campaign for the new album via PledgeMusic.com where fans can also get T-shirts, bass strings, and CD bundle packs.

A Note from Hansford:

When you purchase an "item" from our Gong Expresso campaign you are not buying music, this is not commerce in the normal sense. You are contributing to the making of the music. That's very different. No one really buys music. In the past you purchased a vehicle, a physical format, that permitted you to listen. Some of the receipts went to the musicians. But musicians have been making music whether anyone buys it or not for millennia. So, contributing to this campaign makes you a part of the bohemian fraternity that supports our creative endeavours. In sacred times musicians were workers just like any other and all creative work was for God. Today, it is hard to emulate that process but I believe that funding campaigns are a modern way of supporting what we believe in.
This album is produced by many "workers" including graphic designers, videographers, studio and mastering engineers, web designers, instrument builders, and crowd funding platform makers all contributing to something they believe in.
So you are participating through your "purchase" and we are creating something together. Sound good?

Thanks,
Hansford Rowe
