Jazz at the Lighthouse: MusicTalks hosts Thana Alexa and the Israeli 12th Night Jazz Quartet in Tribute to the Legendary Ella Fitzgerald

On Stage at Kingsborough, a leading performing arts presenter located at Brooklyn's Kingsborough Community College presents its 2017 spring season, featuring world class artists from around the globe. On Stage at Kingsborough brings internationally renowned performing artists to Southern Brooklyn with an eclectic roster spanning multiple genres including music, dance, theatre and family programming. The full 2016-2017 season began September 24, 2016 and runs through May 20, 2017.

On February 10 as part of the Jazz at the Lighthouse series, MusicTalks hosts award-winning vocalist Thana Alexa accompanied by the Israeli 12th Night Jazz Quartet, for an evening of outstanding jazz and stories tracing the legacy of the legendary singer Ella Fitzgerald. The performance will highlight Ella's journey from her debut performance at the Apollo Theater's Amateur Night to her groundbreaking career as one of the most celebrated jazz artists of the 20th Century. The event is hosted by MusicTalks founder and award-winning musician, Elad Kabilio.

Thana Alexa is a Croation-American jazz singer whose 2015 debut album "Ode to Heroes" received much acclaim, and secured her place as jazz's rising star. Alexa was selected as 2016 Downbeat Critic's Poll Rising Female Vocalist.

Elad Kabilio is a renowned Israeli cellist and founder of MusicTalks, an organization which breaks down the barriers between musicians and audience by taking advantage of the intimacy that the music provides. With engaging and interactive conversation, the listener is given an experience that truly makes Music Talk.

The musicians in the 12th Night Jazz Quartet are pianist Daniel Meron, saxophonist Éyal Hai, bassist Nadav Lachish, and drummer Dani Danor.

The Jazz at the Lighthouse series presents intimate jazz performances in a modern lighthouse, featuring picturesque floor-to-ceiling views of the sea. Enjoy wine, cheese, and outstanding Jazz at The Lighthouse!

On Stage at Kingsborough (OSK) brings artistically and culturally diverse, multi-disciplinary performances from masters of the form to the varied communities within and surrounding Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn. We strive to create an environment where the arts are an accessible and integral part of life, and the Arts Center is a community gathering place for interaction and inspiration. We present world-class dance, cabaret, theatre, music, and family performances in the Leon M. Goldstein Performing Arts Center and Kingsborough Community College's Lighthouse from September to May, and our Hot Summer Nights! free outdoor concert series at Kingsborough Community College's bandshell every July. Our school-time shows welcome classes from local public and private schools, a majority of which serves economically-disadvantaged or special needs populations.
