Julphan Tilapornputt - From Thailand to Berklee College of Music

Originally from Thailand, Jazz guitarist Julphan Tilapornputt studied guitar performance at the Berklee College of Music where he was recipient of a Music Writing and Composition scholarship. Julphan recently received a Masters Degree in Jazz Studies at NYU's Steinhardt school. Julphan currently resides in New York City, and regularly leads performances in New York, Boston and Thailand.

Combining an intriguing mix of influences, Julphan's music features sophisticated guitar-centric compositions mixing classical elements and jazz improvisation.

All of these things are on display on the trio's debut album, Inspired, released in 2012 in USA and Thailand, and reviewed on AllAboutJazz.com. Album release concerts were hosted in Boston and Bangkok, Thailand, including the prestigious The King of Thailand Anniversary Concert in 2012. In 2014, Julphan performed his original music and was interviewed by Starstage, a notable Thai television show. Now, Julphan is releasing his second CD with his new quartet, Regards to You II.

Julphan has performed with Tewan Supsanyakorn, legendary Thai jazz saxophonist and has studied with jazz masters such as Adam Rogers. Joe Lovano, Peter Bernstein, Mick Goodrick, Jean-Michel Pilc and Tim Miller.

CD DESCRIPTION
"We see the world through our unique perspective that we can neither remove nor resist. This album is the sound of my inner voice embellished by outer influences."

Regards to you II features my 9 original compositions, inspired by the idea that human personalities are partially described by the perspectives of each individual viewer. This creates multiple descriptions for a single person. In consequence, there is no untainted human personality.

I have chosen 9 persons that have been influencing me, whether musically or non-musically, writing the songs surrounded by their personalities through my perspective. Each songs cast totally different human personalities.
