| Richard Malavet's Very Good Years: The Intimate Sinatra Friday's Acclaimed jazz baritone Richard Malavet debuts his all new show, Very Good Years: The Intimate Sinatra at the Metropolitan Room for four performances: Fridays, July 10 and 24 and August 27 as well as Thursday, August 28 at the Metropolitan Room. All shows are at 7:00 PM. His quartet will be led by multi-Grammy nominee John di Martino and includes two time Grammy winner Boris Kozlov on bass as well as Shinnosuke Takahashi on drums and James Chirillo on guitar. The Metropolitan Room is located at 34 West 22nd Street (between 5th & 6th Avenues.) Very Good Years: The Intimate Sinatra is an insightful journey into the musical career of Frank Sinatra on his centennial year (December 12, 1915.) The show is a musical tribute focusing on songs from 1939 to 1968. It is a recording retrospective which formed the musical compass to Sinatra's professional life and his legacy. Along with several signature songs, are lesser known tunes including two co-written by Sinatra. Songs he famously recorded with Nelson Riddle, his greatest collaborator, will also be highlighted. Several arrangements are given a decidedly Latin twist as well as a tip of the hat to two of his greatest influences, Tommy Dorsey and Billie Holiday. There will also be songs from his favorite album, "Frank Sinatra Sings for Only The Lonely" as well as tunes from collaborations with Antonio Carlos Jobim and Duke Ellington.
