Bertha Hope Piano in Bryant Park May 25-29 12:30pm – 2:30pm

Bertha Hope is an American jazz pianist, teacher, composer and arranger who has traveled around the world, and worked with a diverse group of artists, from Dizzy Gillespie and Frank Foster, to Nat Adderley and Philly Joe Jones. In addition to being leader of The Bertha Hope Trio, she is composer and arranger of several recordings including: In Search of Hope and Elmo's Fire(Steeplechase); Between Two Kings (Minor Records) and her latest on the Reservoir label, Nothin' But Love. Bertha also teaches at Manna House Workshops, and holds a residency at Minton's Supper Club - both located in Harlem. The Seattle-based trio, New Stories, has recorded a CD of Hope-Booker's music entitled, Hope Is In the Air. Bertha Hope was married to, and also worked with, the late legendary bassist Walter Booker

Bryant Park is situated behind the New York Public Library in midtown Manhattan, between 40th and 42nd Streets & Fifth and Sixth Avenues.

The piano is located on the Upper Terrace, at the base of the William Cullen Bryant statue, between the Bryant Park Grill and Bryant Park Cafe.
