Award winning soprano saxophonist Jane Ira Bloom returns to Kitano with her quartet featuring pianist Dominic Fallacaro, bassist Cameron Brown & drummer Matt Wilson for an evening of "Ballads that Question." Since the release of her Grammy nominated Cd "Sixteen Sunsets, " Bloom has been exploring her own spin on the American Songbook and her original compositions. 'Less is more' and a fondness for the unexpected provide the inspiration for this unique band of improvisers. Don't miss these seasoned players as they navigate the American Songbook and beyond.
"Whether interpreting classic ballads or gliding gracefully through her compositions, Bloom is sublime."
- Martin Z. Kasdan Jr., Louisville Music News
"Her soprano saxophone can make your skin tingle as few others on her instrument ever have."
- Gene Seymour, NPR
"…one of the prettiest, clearest tones around on soprano. She never sounds better than on ballads....you can tell she knows the words."
- Kevin Whitehead/ NPR
