Paweł Kaczmarczyk: New Take - After Five (years)

This will be the last in-concert meeting for the Audiofeeling Trio – or rather, the musicians' final 'dress rehearsal' prior to their going into the ultra-modern Alvernia Studios, to produce Paweł Kaczmarczyk's group's long-awaited new album.

Pianist Paweł Kaczmarczyk, acclaimed a couple of years ago as the new promise for Polish jazz ("Jazz Forum"), described as an utterly amazing artist ("Gazeta Wyborcza"), and currently enjoying international renown, is not known for spoiling his fans – especially when it comes to recordings under his leadership. The last disc bearing the artist's name – which received numerous awards – was released exactly five years ago ("Complexity In Simplicity", ACT Music). Kaczmarczyk didn't go silent by any means following the premiere, surprising us at every turn with new ideas, projects and festivals which he has led or actively participated in. His own discography, however, still has yet to exceed the magical number 3.

Kaczmarczyk is now officially announcing preparations for the recording and release of a new album, though, which he will talk about in person on June 8th, during a very special concert at the Krakow club Rotunda, where he'll be accompanied by his steady and reliable partners in performance, bassist Maciej Adamczak and drummer Dawid Fortuna.

The concert will be special due to the fact that the artist's latest, as yet unpublished compositions will be heard in the course of the program, which will consist of two hour-plus sets. But that's not all! The Rotunda club, a venue well-known to all jazz fans, will also undergo a surprising conversion, with a new sound stage constructed in the center of the auditorium especially for the occasion. The audience will be seated on all sides, which will enable them to experience the acoustic advantages of this uncommon arrangement in full.

Immediately following the 'dress rehearsal', as Kaczmarczyk refers to this concert, the Audiofeeling Trio will begin a three-day recording session in the state-of-the-art Alvernia Studios complex.

- "Unlike my previous recordings, this time the music will maintain the style of a modern European jazz trio. Those who attend my concerts are well aware of the importance I attach to being communicative with the audience, and this is the direction I intend to go." - explains Paweł Kaczmarczyk. The young jazz man's musical concepts are also confirmed by numerous reviews of his performances, which underscore the pianist's gregarious style of improvisation – a style that evokes emotion from even those listeners who are just beginning their adventure with jazz and improvised music.

"They say that a musician begins to mature after the age of 30. I hope this is a good prognosis, especially since I've just turned thirty..." - the pianist adds half seriously, half in jest.

Will he captivate listeners this time as well, and leave them wanting only more of his music after he leaves the stage (or when the disc stops playing)? There's no doubt! It's probably safe to predict, even now, that Kaczmarczyk's new album will earn him a successive array of awards and distinctions. After all, he's highly regarded not only for perfection, but for the exceptional artistic inventiveness he has displayed over the last few years, realizing projects like his exceptional concert series "Directions in Music", among others. We'll be convinced during the June concert at the Rotunda club, though, as well as towards the end of the year, when the Audiofeeling Trio's long-awaited new CD will most likely be released.

DIRECTIONS IN MUSIC: HANK MOBLEY

On June 28th at the club Harris Piano Jazz Bar, the exceptional concert "Kaczmarczyk/Grzegorski – Directions in Music: Hank Mobley". It's exceptional because, as the group's leader himself acknowledges, Mobley is an artist of huge sentimental – and even symbolic – significance for him. It was this project, dedicated to the ingenious hard bop tenor saxophonist, that marked the beginning of the "Directions In Music" concert series, through which Kaczmarczyk has been bringing music by the most outstanding artists of world jazz closer to audiences, on a continual basis since September, 2010.

This time around at the Krakow club, the young pianist will be joined on stage by Tomasz Grzegorski (saxophone), Adam "Szabas" Kowalewski (bass) and Arek Skolik (drums).
