Roy Forbes Plays Birmingham International Jazz & Blues Festival

Birmingham based jazz and soul singer Roy Forbes with The Brain Dee Trio returns to the greatest jazz and blues festival in England. The Birmingham Jazz and Blues Festival is ready to bring streets and venues across the city alive with music this summer with Roy Forbes joining a whopping 150 acts playing in over 80 venues from Friday the 5th July until Sunday the 14th July 2013. Roy Forbes is known to Birmingham festival audiences as a dynamic and exciting singer who has built a great reputation in the city. He has also appeared at London's Jazz Cafe and the Stables, Wavendon, as well as taking part in other festivals as distant as Milan and St. Lucia, plus high-profile events nearer home such as Brecon, Cork and Soho. Last year he scored a big success at the Limoges Jazz Festival in France ('an exceptional concert', according to Le Populaire du Centre). Roy began his jazz career with Andy Hamilton and now has appeared with such notables as Larry Coryell, David Murray, Al Casey, Harry 'Sweets' Edison, Jean Toussaint, Dudu Pukwana and many others. The Birmingham Mail wrote about Roy's performance in the 2011 Jazzfest, 'Is there a better male jazz singer in this country? Probably not. Roy Forbes is a master of his trade.'

With the vast majority of performances and events being free of charge, the festival presents ten great days out, without breaking the bank. A full list of confirmed artists can be found at: http://www.bigbearmusic.com/birmingham-international-jazz-blues-festival/artists.html

"This is an important event for Birmingham and is an opportunity for everyone to see mostly free live music and events at different venues." – Councilor Ian Ward
