Jazz icon returns to Vietnam

World renowned Belgian jazz pianist Eric Legnini comes back to Vietnam for his second tour and is scheduled to perform in Ho Chi Minh City on May 9 and in Hanoi on May 11.

He first performed in Vietnam two years ago and received particular and popular acclaim from the country's audiences.

For this year's tour, the pianist plans to bring to the stage dazzling melodies in a fabulous mixture of assorted styles in jazz, funk, pop and afrobeat.

Born in 1970 into an artistic family coming from Italy, Lagnini started playing the piano at age six and found his passion for jazz in his teenage years. In 1988 he went to the United States for 2 years to study American jazz styles.

He has released more than 10 albums and all of them have been enthusiastically received by both listeners and art critics alike. He won the 'Octave jazz of music' prize in 2006 and the 'Victory of the Jazz' to honour the best instrumental album of the year in 2011 for his album 'The Vox'.

Free tickets for the performances will be available from May 2 at the Department of Regional Chamber of Wallonie, No. 6 Le Thanh Ton street, District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City, and the Wallonie-Bruxelles Delegation in Vietnam, Daeha Building, No. 360 Kim Ma street, Ba Dinh district in Hanoi.

The performances, jointly organised by the Wallonie-Bruxelles delegation in Vietnam and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is among activities to celebrate the European Days in Vietnam and the 20th anniversary of the Cultural Cooperation Agreement signing between Vietnam and the French-speaking community of Belgium.
