Jazzmobile In Central Park - Wycliffe Gordon Sat., Aug. 18th

The Central Park Conservancy welcomes New York Metropolitan area jazz buffs, swing dancers and nature lovers to "Great Jazz on the Great Hill, " a free concert and celebration of jazz in one of New York City's most iconic locations. The free show returns for its sixth year in Central Park with live musical performances by renowned trombonist Wycliffe Gordon (with a special tribute to Louis Armstrong), Latin jazz musician Steve Kroon, Jazz and Blues vocalist, Alyson Williams and Jazzmobile's Jazz Vocal Competition Winners Brianna Thomas (2010)

The show, which takes place from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm, is a co-presentation of Jazzmobile and the Central Park Conservancy. "Great Jazz on the Great Hill" is made possible by major support from corporate sponsor, JPMorgan Chase; additional support from the New York State Council on the Arts, New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, The City College of New York, NYC & Company Foundation, City of New York Parks & Recreation, City Parks Foundation,, Con Edison; and our elected officials – Manhattan Borough President, Scott Stringer, The Council of the City of New York Manhattan Delegation, NYC Council Speaker, Christine Quinn, NYC Council Members: Hon. Gale Brewer, Hon. E. Inez Dickens, Hon. Robert Jackson, and Darlene Mealy; and Harlem Week, the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce, the Harlem Arts Alliance and Harlem One Stop.

The concert is part of Jazzmobile's Summerfest 2012, New York's oldest continuous summer jazz festival reaching approximately 50, 000 annually. Its mobile concerts bring the next generation of jazz innovators and legends to the five boroughs.

WHEN: Sat., August 18 - Family activities and performances from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm

WHERE: The Great Hill, Central Park. Enter the Park at 106th Street (Duke Ellington Boulevard) and Central Park West and walk up the stairs or ramp to the Great Hill. The event will be cancelled in case of inclement weather.
