December 15th, 2011 marked the centennial of STAN KENTON, who died in 1979. Stan Kenton was an adventurous innovator in 20th-century music who was a prodigious pianist, composer and arranger as well as a fearless bandleader. With a team of composers, arrangers and musicians, an enduring body of work was created that ignored stylistic boundaries, bringing together jazz and classical genres.

The first concert celebrating Stan Kenton's Centennial was held on January 27th with the MSM Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra performing music by Kenton's Innovations Orchestra, including City of Glass.
