Mossa Bildner T. S. Eliot Project “The Four Quartets”

Mossa Bildner will perform with her T. S. Eliot Project "The Four Quartets" at The Bowery Poetry Club in NYC on Sunday, Oct. 23rd. "Mossa Bildner has demonstrated over the past 17 years, since working with Henry Threadgill, an ability to be practically invisible while developing and producing an astonishing variety of vocal projects which elude definition. She has a powerful 3 octave range, which is rich and dark on the lower end and ascending towards the upper register can seem almost childlike. Because of her earlier life as an opera singer in Europe, she has the kind of technique which enables her to unfold her voice and use it in a purely instrumental way, while infusing it with meaningful innuendoes, sometimes sounding rapid fire scales at dizzying heights and ending in ritualistic incantations and animalistic growls which made this listeners arm hair stand on end.

Growing up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and later living in Europe and North Africa, has informed Bildner's music not only in terms of the multiple languages she speaks, but also multiple world music influences.

Bildner's latest project takes excerpts from TS Eliot's "The Four Quartets" and with outstanding improvising musicians like Ken Filiano (b) Catherine Sikora (sop. sax), Charlie Raugh (guit) and Christine Bard (dr.), they follow each others' intertwining paths into a surprising musical landscape redolent of Afro-Brasilian, Baroque, Modal, and Impressionistic music."

"I have worked with Mossa Bildner and her vocalise is amazing!" - Henry Threadgill
