Cecil Taylor, Hamid Drake, Roscoe Mitchell, Jason Hwang and many others. Though you may not know he is also a poet, deep thinker and a man who cares about humanity. All this and more is in his book "Who Owns Music?" he makes some very eye-opening observations about life and music, critics and the role of musician. Parker also makes comments on many other bassists and recording of interest. Its good that artists like William Parker are putting their thoughts and feelings into print and publishers like Renate Da Rin are making books like Who Owns Music? available to us.
