Sol & Funk Root perform at the Charlottesville Music Showcase

Sol & Funk Root perform as part of the Charlottesville Music Showcase Concert Series on Wednesday October 13. Sol is a world class guitarist and vocalist who creates a stylish blend of fiery rock, deep blues, and raw funk and draws from an incredible background of musical touring. Sol has performed around the world with roots, funk, and blues legends and has backed up musical heavyweights such as Taj Mahal and Kenny Wayne Shepherd on stage and in the studio. Sol, who is based in Northern Virginia, has a special interest in the Virginia music scene. "I'm dedicated to doing all I can to enrich and promote the culture and entertainment in Virginia, and we are very honored to work with venues and organizations, such as the Charlottesville Music Showcase and the venue Rapture, who focus on raising the quality of life in the region" Sol said via a phone interview.

Sol brings an all star cast of musicians together for the Charlottesville Music Showcase, hosted by guitar wizard Tucker Rodgers. Sol will have super solid bassist Houston Ross (Corey Harris, Tim Reynolds, Jamal Millner) and drummer/producer/engineer extraordinaire Rob Evans (engineer with Dave Matthews Band, Tim Reynolds, Taj Mahal) On the recent "Freedom" CD release, Sol leads a cast of musicians who work with Corey Harris, Jah Works, Hobex, Squirrel Nut Zippers, the Alliens, The Seed, and more.

"Sol creates a unique blend of Southern fried rock, blues, reggae, and way back yonder funk, all delivered with deep soul, translating dusty musical roots into the present day with tasty original tunes and bluesy, greasy jams."

"A fierce guitarist and soulful singer..."

"Sol is an impressive guitar player! Sol has an assured, confident voice that matches well with the bravado of his guitar playing. "Freedom" proved to be quite a discovery for me, and something I'll be referring to my circle of friends. "
