Luanda Jazz Festival

The pianist and music composer, Joe Sample, and jazz and R&B singer, Randy Crawford, will replace fellow singers Dianne Reeves and Lizz Wright, in the 2nd edition of the Luanda International Jazz Festival, due to agenda problems, Angop learned Wednesday here.

In a press release signed by the director of the Luanda International Jazz Festival (LIJF), António Cristóvão, says his organisation had been hunting for the two coming singers, after discovering they were available and willing to participate in the event.

"We had been trying to reach this fantastic pair for some time and are happy to find that the two were available and anxious to participate in the show of this year, " said the official.

Antonio Cristóvão assured this year's edition of the LIJF will be bigger and better than 2009's, despite the absence of Dianne Reeves and Lizz Wright.

He explained that most of the artists attending the festival do not usually perform for small audiences.

The Luanda International Jazz Festival will start on Thursday with a music workshop at Elinga Teatro venue, in Luanda, with the 340ml band.

On Friday, the workshop will be guided by the British Ronny Jordan and Cape Verdean Lura.
