Singer Paulette Dozier Hits the Hot Spots of New York's Jazz Scene

Jazz stylist Paulette Dozier returns to the Metropolitan Room for one night only with her signature power packed show on Saturday, July 31, 2010 at 9:30pm.

Accompanied by the phenomenal Curt Garey Quartet, Paulette's repertoire recalls the pioneering jazz divas that topped the charts during the 30s and 40s. Yet, the contemporary arrangements of both originals and standards, as heard in her CD "Over & Over Again", gratifies the discerning taste of today's jazz enthusiasts without depriving the golden era fans of the swinging sound they continue to love.

Without a doubt, this elegant chanteuse exudes power on center stage with her sultry alto voice reminiscent of the husky resonance expressed by the enchanting Nina Simone. This allure, combined with her natural stage flare that captures the dazzling grandeur of the stage-crafted socialite/entertainer "Mussy Van Hossmere" (a role that Dozier has enjoyed performing on various occasions in productions of "Thoroughly Modern Millie"), offers a complete musical experience for audiences to enjoy.

This elegant lady is quite the showstopper, and "There is no negative drawback in surrendering to Dozier's bewitching voice. It does a soul good, " says Susan Frances of Jazz Review.
