The Vancouver International Jazz Festival

"There's not a jazz festival in the world that can touch it – 10 days of unadulterated joy." That's how the Seattle Times journalist Paul de Barros describes the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival. The festival is British Columbia's biggest music and arts event, celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.

The line-up for this year's festival includes new and notable jazz greats such as 16-year-old singing sensation Nikki Yanofsky (who performed at the Opening Ceremonies of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games), 14-time Grammy-winning pianist Chick Corea, Grammy-winning bassist Stanley Clarke, legendary crooner/guitarist John Pizzarelli and hipster-songstress Martha Wainwright.

By taking the music to parks, community spaces, concert halls, clubs, public plazas and downtown streets, the festival electrifies the city with over 400 concerts and energizes the spirit of more than 500, 000 people each year. This year's festival features over 1, 800 musicians from Canada and around the world performing at over 40 venues citywide. There are 130 free concerts including the Gastown Jazz street festival on opening weekend (June 26 and 27), Canada Day on Granville Island (July 1), and the Jazz at the Roundhouse free indoor/outdoor spectacular on closing weekend (July 3 and 4).
