Zen Widow Records New Album At Ocean Way

International jazz sensation Zen Widow have recorded new album at Ocean Way in Hollywood. "Zen Widow III" features Sicilian alto sax virtuoso Gianni Gebbia and guest trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith alongside long-time SF Bay cohorts Matthew Goodheart on grand piano and electro-acoustic driven percussion and Garth Powell on drums and percussion.

The album was produced by prolific blues and jazz figure Joe Harley and versatile engineer/mixer Michael C. Ross. Born in Palermo, Italy, saxophonist Gianni Gebbia is best known for his circular-breathing technique developed through his studies of the Sardinian bagpipe.

Matthew Goodheart, a native of the San Francisco Bay Area, explores a variety of forms and sonics as a founding member of Zen Widow, and also as a solo performer and composer.
Percussionist Garth Powell is well-know for contrasting tranquil moods with his signature breakaway shifts.
Cal Arts instructor and trumpeter Wadada Leo Smith has a long-standing reputation for his inventive work in avant-garde jazz and free improvisation.
