“Water Seed” Set To Headline At The Five Spot

New Orleans & Atlanta musical tour de force Water Seed, is set to take the stage in downtown Atlanta to headline a star-studded musical event at The Five Spot in historic Little 5 Points. Accompanied by "Welcome to Dreamland" Queen "Leaf" and alternative soul aficionado Graham Knox, the three acts will continue the trend of Atlanta's scene playing host to the next generation of dynamic African American artists whose calling card is a return to exciting, stage shows, thought provoking lyrics, and real musicianship.

Ten year plus veterans of the national and international music scene, Water Seed has performed around the world, bringing their seasoned mixture of jazz, soul, funk, and rock. Collectively the band has performed at some of the most prestigious cities and events in the country, including the New Orleans Jazz festival and Atlanta's Centennial Park Concert Series. Individually members of the group have performed with or opened for a who's who list of legendary and contemporary artists ranging from blues legend Bo Diddley and Heatwave, to Janelle Monae and Cee-Lo of Gnarls Barkley.

Leaf Newman has been featured as a singer songwriter at the 2001 Cannes Film Festival, has made guest appearances on the hit UPN show "Girlfriends" and on the Black Family Channel; and has performed with such renowned artists as Saul Williams and Dionne Farris. She was the winner of the recent hit television show "Welcome To Dreamland, " and is known as a dynamic and genuine performer of music that resonates in the heart and soul.

Graham Knox is a new up and coming artist on the Atlanta music scene, leaving audiences in awe at the energy and depth of her performances. An artist, architect and world traveler, she has recorded with Randy Jackson and Van Hunt, as well as penned projects for several major acts. "This line up of artists is essentially an early glimpse into the future of the black music scene in America as we know it, as all of these artists are right on the edge of label negotiations, major appearances, and live shows around the world. I think it's going to be a very exciting and powerful show, " commented Lou Hill, independent promoter and Musical Director of Water Seed.
