Nathaniel Dett Chorale Joins Night of Stars; VIPs to hear jazz diva

Sunnybrook Foundation today announced that The Nathaniel Dett Chorale has been added to the May 17, 2010, Night of Stars at The Princess of Wales Theatre. Sunnybrook also confirmed that Jackie Richardson, accompanied by the talented David Warrack on piano, will perform an intimate number for attendees of the pre-concert VIP dinner, hosted by CP24 Breakfast's Steve Anthony.

The 21-member classically trained Nathaniel Dett Chorale, whose credentials include performances at two public events celebrating President Obama's inauguration, are known for their repertoire of classical, spiritual, folk, jazz, blues and popular music. The group draws on works written by people of African descent. The Chorale has sung for Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Muhammad Ali and Oscar Peterson.

Jackie Richardson, who has been called "Canada's First Lady of jazz, blues and gospel, " will entertain with a private performance at the VIP pre-event reception. As an actor and a singer, Jackie has won a Canadian Black Achievement Award, acted alongside Sidney Poitier and starred in films by Sidney Lumet and Norman Jewison. Jackie will be accompanied by the talented David Warrack on piano.

The pre-concert VIP dinner, presented by Canada Life and Firstbrook Insurance Group, includes a pre-event dinner at the Design Exchange as well as the best seats in the house and a champagne intermission reception during Night of Stars.

All money raised from the event will fund a redeveloped state-of-the-art operating facility at Sunnybrook's Holland Orthopaedic & Arthritic Centre. This redevelopment will allow Sunnybrook to continue to provide the exceptional hip and knee care for which the hospital is renowned.

Night of Stars will take place at The Princess of Wales Theatre on May 17, 2010. VIP Experience tickets can be purchased online at nightofstars.ca for $1, 500 with a $1, 100 tax receipt or by calling 416.967.8628. Other tickets, starting at $49, are also available online.

These new artists join Canadian Idol Eva Avila, comedians Jessica Holmes and Ron James, Glass Tiger front man Alan Frew, The National Ballet of Canada's Karen Kain, Sonia Rodriguez and Aleksander Antonijevic, Rock of Ages star Elicia Mackenzie and Yvan Pedneault, Cirque du Soleil choreographer Debra Brown's custom eight person dance, classical violinist James Ehnes and producer Ross Petty.
