See Gotan Project perform in Florence

Gotan Project, the Paris-based purveyors of "nuevo tango", are set to perform in Florence next month. Known for fusing traditional tango music with elements of jazz and the modern sounds of dub, electronica and breakbeat, the three-piece are preparing to release their third album later this month.

Their debut release, La Revancha del Tango, appeared in 2001 and soon gained support from influential DJs such as Gilles Peterson.

People using accommodation in Florence can see band members Philippe Cohen Solal, Christoph Muller and Eduardo Makaroff play live at the Saschall Theatre on Wednesday May 26th.

Even those who do not own any Gotan Project albums are likely to be familiar with their work, as songs by the group have featured in popular TV shows including Nip/Tuck, Sex and the City and Top Gear.

Gotan Project music has also appeared on the soundtrack of films such as Shall We Dance? and Ocean's Twelve.

Florence's Saschall Theatre also provides the venue for the eighth Firenze Tango Festival, which takes place from April 22nd to 25th.

The Gotan Project concert is likely to be popular, " said Jess Reading, head of marketing at LateRooms. "LateRooms strongly recommends people considering attending to book hotel Firenze as soon as possible."
