Headstone To Be Erected For Bluesman Willie Brown

Willie Brown, arguably one of the most underrated influential bluesmen of his time, is getting a headstone erected at his unmarked grave in Prichard, MS. The unveiling should happen in the spring of 2011.

Tdblues.com has obtained permission from Tunica County Administrator Clifton Johnson to raise the headstone on the property of The Good Shepherd Church in Prichard. Mr. Johnson, in correspondence with Jason Rewald, stated, "We look forward to this marker being placed at the church site and the recognition it will bring to Mr. Brown."

All monies raised through tdblues.com will be used to fund the headstone, as well as the dedication ceremony. As the dates begin to get finalized, invitations for the dedication ceremony will be sent out, though the public is encouraged to attend. Pending any unforeseen circumstances, the ceremony will take place in the spring of 2011.

Tdblues.com was founded in 2007 to help plan yearly trips to the Mississippi Delta and provide blues news and research. The site offers a range of theories, articles, reviews, message forums and more to the blues community.
