Shyan Selah to Join All Star Band for Unity for Peace Jam

This Friday night (March 12th) marks the first Unity For Peace Jam at the House of Blues on Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles. This charity event, designed to promote world peace through music and the arts is presented by the Unity For Foundation, which aims to target global issues - beginning with the promotion of world peace - one community and one neighborhood at a time.

Shyan Selah has been included as a Very Special Guest for the Unity for Peace Jam in Los Angeles which will also include special guests such as Mos Def, Billy Gibbons, Marcus Miller, John Popper, Courtney Gains, DJ Rocky Rock (Black Eyed Peas), members of Guns and Roses and more. Up for auction will be an autographed Gibson vintage guitar. Doors open at 7pm and the show will start at 8:15pm.

The night will also feature a special all-star band put together by Martin Guigui, co-organizer of the event and President of Sunset Pictures and Old School Records. Members of the all-star band will include: Jonathan Mover (Joe Satriani, GTR, Aretha Franklin), Cal Bennett (Tonight Show), Scott Page (Toto, Supertramp), Corey Britz (The Calling, Dave Stewart), Ched Tolliver (Steely Dan), Ellis Hall (Tower of Power), Steve Ferrone(Tom Petty)and others.

Joining the musicians for a celebrity red carpet entrance at 7:30pm are the following invited guests: Casper Van Dien, Deborah Gibson, Corey Feldman, Wood Harris, Mickey Rourke and others.

The Unity for Peace Jam aims to build an artistic "Unity Community" through the Unity For Foundation to promote and educate people about establishing world peace by utilizing a concert event platform, and by joining with and giving to other grassroots peace organizations. The Unity For Foundation's founders and board also includes writer and producer David Traub, philanthropists Hatem Jabshesh and Sam Ing, and actress, producer and Sunset Pictures executive Dahlia Waingort in addition to Guigui.

"Peace starts in your own neighborhood, your own community - whether it be Compton, South Chicago, or in the backyards of small America, " says Guigui. "The Middle East has always been the most volatile part of the planet and we need to resolve that one neighborhood at a time."

Proceeds collected from the Unity for Peace Jam Tour will go to the Unity For Foundation which will use the money to feed the tour through the year, as well as disperse the money to specific organizations that use grassroots efforts to promote peace. The Unity for Peace Jam Concerts will take place mostly at House of Blues venues throughout the United States. This Friday marks the first Unity for Peace Jam Concert in Los Angeles. Additional dates and acts are being scheduled in San Francisco, Seattle, Denver, Chicago, Boston, New York, Nashville, New Orleans, San Antonio, Paris, London, and Shanghai before ending this year in the Middle East which will include stops in Jerusalem and Jordan. The Unity For Foundation will continue the tour in additional cities worldwide next year.

Guigui says he plans to include Shyan Selah as an integral part of the tour, especially when it reaches his hometown in the Northwest.

"I thought of Shyan because I know that this event and this cause will benefit from Shyan's spirit, energy and artistic integrity, " says Guigui. "I, as the musical director of the show as well as a member of the board of Unity for Peace, can speak about how thrilled we are that Shyan has agreed to be a part of this event and we look forward to his being a part of the Seattle date of this show."

According to Shyan, this event reminded him of the power and inspiration music holds and its ability to foster positive change.

"This event exemplifies why music is best served with the concept of people first, " says Shyan. "I am honored to be a part of this event and will continue to support this cause because of what it stands for. For me this is how I was introduced to music and I want my contribution to be delivered in the same manner."
