Hanah Jon Taylor’s HyrPlasis Recorded by Madison Media Institute

Hanah Jon Taylor, jazz musician and Madison Media Institute Instructor, recently released his new CD entitled, HyrPlasis. Several tracks of the CD were recorded by current students in MMI's Music Recording Studio-A.

Taylor specializes in improvised music; he plays the flute, saxophone and wind synthesizer. He established the Musonics Foundation, a cadre of musicians, dancers and actors, organized to provide artistic activities designed to encourage self-expression in young people. Taylor teaches courses at MMI in History of Contemporary Music and World Music. Several other musicians collaborated with Taylor on this project, including Yosef Ben Israel, Vincent Davis, Kirk Brow, and MMI graduate Vito Caricati.

"In my forty years as a professional artist…at most it has been necessary for me to maintain daytime/seasonal employment to support my artistic career. As a faculty member of MMI, I have not only been graced with the support of the school as an associate producer of my recording work but also encouraged to maintain my International performance career; augmenting my relationship with the school not only as a faculty member but as a partner in the production of my art. How many sax players in the world have the opportunity to work and teach forty steps away from a professional recording studio?" stated Hanah Jon Taylor.

HyrPlasis is available for purchase at B-Side, MadCity Music Exchange and Strictly Discs. It is currently the #1 Jazz Album on the WORT, Madison chart.
