Akon's Hitlab.com had predicted all 3 Lady Gaga hits

Thanks in no small part to his Hitlab.com website, hip-hop superstar Akon was able to correctly anticipate pop icon Lady Gaga's success to date. Hitlab, which is owned by Akon, employs the use of its proprietary Dynamic Hit Scoring technology to determine how likely a given song is to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.

Based on a multitude of factors, an uploaded song is given a score as a percentage, with 70% generally considered to be the cut-off point between a song that has moderate and massive hit potential.

Lady Gaga, who was discovered by Akon and is signed to his Kon Live Distribution label, has had her three massive hits, "Poker Face", "Just Dance", and "LoveGame" earn DHS scores of 90% and over. In addition, all three were successfully predicted to hit the Billboard's top 5 by Hitlab, according to thanalyses.

"It's what I've known all along, " said Akon. "Gaga has talent. The world knows that now. It was only a matter of time before they found out too. There just isn't any holding her back."

The most-recent single from Lady Gaga's debut album The Fame (2008), "LoveGame" peaked at number five in June 2009 and is currently still ranked within the chart's top 10 as of the start of August. It notably scored a 97% DHS score, which represents one of the highest ever earned on the site.

"Just Dance", which was the album's lead single, earned a DHS score of 92%. Released in the summer of 2008, the song reached the coveted number-one spot on in early 2009. Meanwhile, "Poker Face", the follow-up single, earned a 90% score on Hitlab.

Arguably her biggest hit to date, "Poker Face" peaked at number one in April. As of the week of August 8, it was still on the chart for the 32nd week in a row, laying claim to the 23rd position.

A world-renowned hip-hop and rhythm-and-blues artist, Akon has become one of the music industry's most recognized talents. He has been nominated for six Grammy awards and has had 23 songs chart on the Billboard Hot 100. As a producer and songwriter, he has worked with Whitney Houston, Gwen Stefani, and the late Michael Jackson.

A social network portal for artists and listeners alike, Hitlab is reinventing the music industry with its proprietary DHS (dynamic hit scoring) technology. DHS determines the hit potential of an uploaded song, measuring, among other variables, tempo and pitch, while using the past six years' worth of Billboard Hot 100 singles as a basis of comparison. Through a scoring system based on DHS scores and fan votes, independent artists vie for one of eight spots to perform in front of Akon. The Akon-owned, Montreal-operated website now boasts over 32, 000 total users.
