Jack Kerouac's Big Sur is explored in new depth with the limited edition multi-media boxed set One Fast Move or I'm Gone (Oct 20, F-Stop/Atlantic). The deluxe set combines a copy of the novel, the new documentary film, a bonus DVD with over on hour of extras, the album of original music by Jay Farrar and Benjamin Gibbard, plus plus an excerpt from a recently unearthed 1963 Kerouac manuscript.

Customers who preorder the set will receive the entire package two weeks in advance of the Oct. 20 street date.

In addition to the book, CD and DVDs, a 24-page booklet on the documentary and album is included here, containing never before published photos of Kerouac along with original essays by musicians Patti Smith and Jay Farrar as well as actor Donal Logue and more. The bonus DVD, included exclusively in the boxed set offers over one hour of bonus material: deleted scenes; director's interview; behind the scenes looks at the making of the album and film; extended readings; slide show and film trailers.

The documentary, directed by Curt Worden and produced by Gloria Bailen and Jim Sampas of Kerouac Films, focuses on the events depicted in Kerouac's 1962 landmark novel and features appearances by writers, poets, actors and musicians including Lawrence Ferlinghetti, Patti Smith, Sam Shepard and Tom Waits. Along with the film, a new album featuring 12 original songs - with lyrics based on the prose of Kerouac's novel - composed and performed by Jay Farrar of Son Volt and Benjamin Gibbard of Death Cab for Cutie, will also be released as a stand alone CD, a CD/DVD package and subsequently, a Vinyl/DVD package.
