Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival

The Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce will once again hold their world famous Seafood, Blues and Jazz Festival on Saturday and Sunday, October 10th and 11th at the Fort Fisher Military Recreation Area in Kure Beach, NC. This world famous two-day Festival, in its 16th year, features two sound stages where National and International Musicians will play the best in American Blues, Jazz and World music. Guests will also enjoy great seafood, and regional fine artists, designers, jewel smiths & craftsmen displaying their goods. There will also be a "Kidz Fantasy Zone" for children to play.

Headlining the Festival this year is quintessential Texas blues rocker Delbert McClinton. McClinton has known few genre boundaries during his more than five decade-spanning career with threads of country, rock, pop soul, folk and jazz abounding. One of his notable credits is the creation of the harmonica riff lead on Bruce Channel's 1962 #1 hit "Hey! Baby, " recorded in his native Ft. Worth. The riff provided the inspiration for the similar one heard on the Beatles' "Love Me Do, " as played by John Lennon under the tutelage of Delbert McClinton.

Two-day tickets will be $30 in advance and are currently available for purchase from ETix and the Pleasure Island Chamber of Commerce office located at 1121 N. Lake Park Blvd., Carolina Beach, N.C. Tickets will also be available for purchase over the phone with a Visa or MasterCard (convenience fee will be applied). Tickets purchased at the gate are $30 for Saturday and $15 for Sunday. Children 12 and under are free. Gates open at 11:00am. Pets and coolers are not permitted.
